A fundamental part of becoming a member of Drawn to the Valley is to live and/or work in the Tamar Valley, incorporating the River Tamar Basin (also known as the River Tamar Catchment Area). For the purpose of Drawn to the Valley this covers 5 miles from any tributary of the Tamar River. This includes the rivers Tiddy, Lynher, Inny and Ottery in Cornwall, and Rivers Plym, Tavy, Walkham and Thrushel in Devon, but generally not more than approximately 10 miles from the River Tamar.
Drawn to the Valley is a self-run artist group with many ongoing events and activities members take part in. These include organising, partaking in, installing/taking down and invigilating exhibitions and markets; organising and partaking in Open Studios and local art trails; organising and attending artist working days; holding and attending coffee mornings and creative gatherings with local artists; getting involved in working parties; mentoring and supporting fellow creatives; and volunteering for the roles of Area Representatives and Committee Members.
