I’m a Plymouth based artist, creating mainly smaller scale landscape paintings. I am increasingly drawn to the more mundane locations, often ignored by our visitors (and possibly our residents). A block of council flats in Plymouth is as deserving of ...

My work features places I know well, galvanised by personal memory, sketches and photographs taken at the locations. I have utilised a variety of media, including acrylic, gouache, watercolour and ink. I enjoy producing more traditional works in watercolour on paper, whilst also experimenting with different surfaces, like Yupo and photographic papers.

I am intrigued by the relationship between painting and photography. In celebrating my subjects, I often draw inspiration from the well used tourist device of the picture postcard: a small souvenir that triggers a memory or a feeling; a slightly fragmented yet over-egged version of reality.

I was thrilled to gain a first class honours degree in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking at Arts University, Plymouth in 2024 at the ripe old age of 59. I was also very honoured to receive the “Fresh Talent 2024” award from the Brownston Gallery, Modbury. They will be representing me in an exhibition later in 2025.
