I was born on the Kent coast, moved to London, and spent many years overseas in the 80’s & 90’s. In 2006 I left London to take on a major renovation project with my civil engineer husband in a remote Devon Longhouse perched high on the west escarpment of Dartmoor overlooking Tavistock and the Tamar Valley. Now happily working from a large purpose-built studio in the grounds of our Devon Longhouse surrounded by nature and constantly changing weather for inspiration.
I have always had a passion for painting and the art world inherited from my textile designer mother and photographer father. Although not formally trained at art college, I have worked in various creative roles which have influenced my artwork to date.
My artwork develops by experimenting with different materials, mixed media and mark making tools. “I explore painting as I do life, not everything stays the same”. My work is varied and contemporary mainly portraying landscapes, local cameos, nature, and rural farm buildings.
But the recent pandemic has caused me to explore abstraction. I am enjoying this new direction immensely, which keeps me sane in these worrying times.
