Sculptor and Lettercarver - I have recently crossed from the border from Devon to Cornwall where I am building my new home and studio.
My long-standing passion for geology led me to carving stone. Learning to carve stone felt like a natural way to express myself and the perfect link to between art and geology. Inspiration for my garden sculpture usually comes from natures patterns and botanical forms, I love fossils and rock strata and also find inspiration in the beauty of the coast and moorland where I live.

My lettering work is frequently described as "romantic, poetic and lyrical". All letter carving is hand drawn as a response to the words and has the quality of seeing "the hand of the artist" rather than static computer-generated lettering, as a result each piece is unique. I regularly exhibit with The Lettering Arts Trust and in 2020 was recognised as one of the UK's new generation of Letter Carvers.

I work mainly in stone sourced from the UK and Ireland such as Cornish Slate, Welsh Slate or Portland Limestone, Bath stone and Kilkenny Limestone. We have a huge range of beautiful stones within the UK which I like to use and explore their sculptural potential.

I love to draw and have found a great relationship between the charcoal stick with which I draw and the chisel with which I carve. With garden sculpture I likes to carve boldly often experimenting with shape or texture in the design of sculptural forms, always referring to my drawings for my inspiration. Drawing is the foundation of much of my work. I love the creation of chisel marks on slate and the deep textures I can apply to stone.

I exhibit my sculpture widely across the UK as well as undertaking private and public commissions, I also have work in private collections.
