I enjoy creating artwork with a narrative, each piece has its own story to tell. I mainly work in 3D and in mixed media, which includes textiles, foils, wire and beads. Some of my figures are created from papier-mâché, scrim, and plaster and painted with acrylics. They can be imposing, humorous or thoughtful. My work is rich and colourful and often inspired by nature and the environment of Devon and Cornwall. Recently I have reflected on Lockdown and the importance of the natural world in enriching our lives, and this has informed my creative endeavours. I also design upcycled jewellery from found objects and packaging, stitching into the surfaces and layering with gold leaf and fabric. I like the idea of finding something worthless and transforming it into something beautiful.
