A lifelong love of textiles & painting has led to an all consuming passion that has turned into an extensive hobby.

I start my work by painting in water colour on fabric, usually calico.

Then I build it up with different materials - threads, beads & silk by melting, burning & slashing them.

In my work the threads can become grasses waving in the breeze; the beads become petals, flowers or spray on the crest of waves.

Sequins become scales of fish. Silk ribbons are bunched & become remarkably lifelike delphiniums. Bits of netting are torn & used as foliage or water.

I was born & brought up on a farm in the South Hams. The South West scenery in general & latterly West Penwith in Cornwall have been major influences on my work.

I am putting a lifetime of experience to use as my mother always made clothes for herself & my sister & I together with the soft furnishings for the farmhouse. We were forever traipsing around with fabric trying to match the colours with paint. My father used to say that " what your mother wants hasn't been made yet''.
